PartnerNote’s legal thesis depends on the distinction between conventional recorded music and real-time algorithmic generation. SPRE matters because background music in commercial spaces can trigger neighboring-rights obligations, not only author-composer licensing.
Steven included SPRE analysis in the February to March 2026 PartnerNote work, alongside SACEM analysis, market study, barème calculators, mockups, and legal brief preparation.
Why it mattered
SPRE made the legal problem broader than authorship alone. If generated music avoids SACEM but still triggers neighboring rights, the thesis weakens. If neither framework applies cleanly, the opening becomes stronger.
This made SPRE part of the same commercial and legal uncertainty that gave PartnerNote both risk and value.
