Ritalin
Ritalin is the ADHD medication Steven received after the 2024 ADHD and autism diagnosis. It briefly appeared to solve part of the executive dysfunction problem, then lost much of its effect through tolerance.
Diagnosis-era promise
The first dose was described as “presque salvateur.” In the context of the diagnosis, this mattered because it suggested that the functional problem had a pharmacological entry point.
Ritalin arrived after years of self-medication with stimulants, especially 3-MMC. Unlike those substances, it came through medical diagnosis and prescription.
Tolerance
The effect did not remain stable. Steven later wrote that it did not work very well. He did not abandon it, but it did not become the clean solution that the first dose seemed to promise.
This made the diagnosis more clarifying than curative. It changed the explanation for the dysfunction but did not automatically resolve it.
Role in the larger pattern
Ritalin sits between self-medication and clinical treatment. It confirms that stimulant support targets a real deficit, while also showing that medication alone does not answer the full problem of structure, masking, burnout, and execution.
