Afters Scene
The afters scene was the private after-party circuit that shaped Steven’s Paris social life from 2020 onward. It overlaps with the queer harm reduction community but is more specific: apartments, multi-day gatherings, substances, sex, conversation, and late-night work.
Social form
Afters usually took place in private apartments and could last several days. During the Arthur relationship, they became Steven’s primary social environment.
The scene offered intensity, acceptance, and sustained conversation. It also normalized sleeplessness, chemical stimulation, and a loosened boundary between social life and work.
Work inside the party
Steven often used the computer during afters. In the COVID Tracker period, this let him show people what he was building. Later, he understood the same behavior as stimming: a way to remain present while regulating overstimulation.
This is the key difference between the afters scene and ordinary nightlife in the wiki. The scene did not only host pleasure. It became a workspace, a social buffer, and a setting for executive-function hacks.
Risk
The afters scene introduced or normalized 3-MMC, GHB/GBL, ketamine, and multi-day wakefulness. It was protective in some respects and structurally risky in others.
Its role is therefore double. It gave Steven one of his first environments of social safety in Paris, and it helped make the 3-MMC pattern durable.
